The Annular Pressure-While-Drilling (APWD) System improvoes drilling efficiency by providing reliable downhole pressure information. The APWD sensor provides both real-time and recorded measurements of annular pressure, internal pressure, and temperature. APWD data can be plotted along with other surface and downhole measurements for a more complete overview of the wellbore conditions.
The APWD sensor detects increases in the drilling fluid so that operating parameters can be modified to improve hole cleaning efficiency. The APWD sensor also provides early detection of well flows and kicks where changes in the real-time pressure can alert operators much sooner than traditional surface detection sensors.
